6 AAC 25.225 - Replacement for a governor or lieutenant governor candidate

(a) If the candidacy for governor or lieutenant governor becomes vacant before a primary election, the joint candidate for governor or lieutenant governor shall provide to the director, not later than 52 days before the date of the primary election, the name of a qualified candidate to fill the vacancy.

(b) If the candidacy for lieutenant governor becomes vacant before a general election as provided in AS 15.25.100(d), the candidate for governor shall provide to the director, not later than 64 days before the date of the general election, the name of a qualified candidate for lieutenant governor to fill the vacancy.

(c) If the name of a replacement candidate is provided timely under this section and the replacement candidate has paid the filing fee required under AS 15.25.050, the director will place the name of that candidate on the ballot for the primary or general election jointly with the candidate who provided the name of the replacement candidate under this section.
