Nothing in 5 AAC prohibits a person from taking game for food during a closed season in case of dire emergency, as defined in 5 AAC 92.990. If it is reasonably possible to do so, the person taking game under this section shall salvage all edible portions of the meat, and shall deliver to the department all portions surplus to the alleviation of the dire emergency.
