5 AAC 01.525 - Waters closed to subsistence fishing

The following waters are closed to the subsistence taking of salmon:

(1) all waters of Near Island Channel that are bounded by a line from a point on Kodiak Island near Delarov Street at 57º 47.62' N. lat., 152º 22.78' W. long., to the northernmost point of Holiday Island at 57º 47.27' N. lat., 152º 22.60' W. long., to a point at the northernmost tip of Near Island at 57º 47.30' N. lat., 152º 23.16' W. long., to a point at the northernmost end of Uski Island south of the Dog Bay small boat harbor entrance at 57º 46.92' N. lat., 152º 24.56' W. long., and north to a point at the tip of the breakwater on Kodiak Island at 57º 47.08' N. lat., 152º 24.60' W. long; in addition, from August 7 through September 30, all waters of Mill Bay and those waters bounded by a line from a point at Spruce Cape at 57º 49.33' N. lat., 152º 19.48' W. long., to the northernmost point of Woody Island at 57º 47.91' N. lat., 152º 19.85' W. long., to a point at the northernmost point of Holiday Island at 57º 47.27' N. lat., 152º 22.60' W. long., and to a point on Kodiak Island near Delarov Street at 57º 47.62' N. lat., 152º 22.78' W. long.;

(2) all freshwater systems of Little Afognak River and Portage Creek drainage in Discoverer Bay;

(3) repealed 4/13/80;

(4) all waters closed to commercial salmon fishing in the Barabara Cove, Chiniak Bay, Saltery Cove, Pasagshak Bay, Monashka Bay and Anton Larsen Bay as described in 5 AAC 18.350, and all waters closed to commercial salmon fishing within 100 yards of the terminus of Selief Bay Creek and north and west of a line from the tip of Last Point to the tip of River Mouth Point in Afognak Bay;

(5) repealed 4/13/80;

(6) all waters 300 yards seaward of the terminus of Monks Creek;

(7) from August 15 through September 30, all waters 500 yards seaward of the terminus of Little Kitoi Creek;

(8) all freshwater systems of Afognak Island;

(9) all waters of Ouzinkie Harbor north of a line from 57º 55.17' N. lat., 152º 36.00' W. long., to 57º 55.05' N. lat., 152º 29.33' W. long.;

(10) from June 1 through October 31, all waters seaward of the terminus of Big Kitoi Creek to a line extending northwesterly from 58º 11.42' N. lat., 152º 21.95' W. long., to 58º 11.59' N. lat., 152º 22.03' W. long.;

(11) from August 15 through September 30, all waters of Big Kitoi Bay west of the longitude of 152º 21.55' W. long.;

(12) all waters within the Northeast Arm of Kazakof Bay (Danger Bay) north and east of a line bound by a point on the west shore at 58° 12.55' N. lat., 152° 34.30' W. long., and a point on the east shore at 58° 12.47' N. lat., 152° 33.93' W. long.

At its January 5 - 11, 1993 meeting, the Board of Fisheries readopted 5 AAC 01.525 in its entirety without change, under ch. 1, SSSLA 1992 (the 1992 subsistence law), which repealed and reenacted AS 16.05.258.
