17 AAC 28.900 - Definitions

Unless the context indicates otherwise in this chapter

(1) "bus" means a vehicle designed primarily for the transportation of persons rather than property that has capacity for at least 16 passengers;

(2) "oversize vehicle permit" means a permit issued under 17 AAC 25 by the department to authorize oversize vehicles to travel on state highways;

(3) "traveling surface" means the portion of the highway designed for the movement of vehicles, including shoulders and auxiliary lanes.

As of Register 161 (April 2002), the regulations attorney made a technical revision under AS 44.62.125(b)(6), to 17 AAC 28.900(2), to reflect the repeal of 3 AAC 35, the relocation of regulations addressing overweight and oversize vehicle permits to 17 AAC 25, and the corresponding transfer of regulatory authority to the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities.
