13 AAC 04.320 - Headlights

(a) A motorcycle must be equipped with multi-beam road-lighting equipment meeting the requirements of 13 AAC 04.020(a) and (e).

(b) A motor-driven cycle must have at least one headlight mounted at a height of not more than 54 inches and not less than 24 inches, and of sufficient intensity to reveal persons and vehicles at a distance of at least 100 feet when the motor-driven cycle is operated at a speed of 20 or less miles per hour, at a distance of at least 200 feet when the motor-driven cycle is operated at a speed between 20 and 30 miles per hour, and at a distance of at least 300 feet when the motor-driven cycle is operated at a speed of 30 or more miles per hour.

(c) A bicycle, when ridden at the times when lights are required under 13 AAC 04.010(a) (1) and (2), must be equipped with at least one light on the front of the bicycle, emitting white light visible from a distance of at least 500 feet in front of the bicycle under normal atmospheric conditions.

(d) The lights required by this section for a motor-driven cycle must be turned on at all times when the vehicle is driven upon a highway or vehicular way or area.
