Section 360-X-26-.01 - Certified Honor Guard Member

(1) Requirements

(a) The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED certificate.

(b) Minimum age requirement is 18 years.

(c) Examination. There will be an examination for state certification for each level of progression provided by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission.
1. An overall score of 70% is required for the successful completion of this examination.

2. One retest may be taken after 30 days and within 12 months of course completion.

3. All certification testing, to include retesting, must be completed within 12 months of the course completion date.

(2) Administration

(a) Scope. This standard identifies the professional levels of competence required to perform the duties of a Certified Honor Guard Member.

(b) Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to specify in terms of performance objectives the minimum requirements of professional competence required for service as a Certified Honor Guard Member. It is not the intent of this standard to restrict any jurisdiction from exceeding these minimum requirements.

(c) General.
1. All of the performance standards for Certified Honor Guard Member shall be performed with competence, and each objective shall be met in its entirety.

2. It is not required that the objectives be mastered in the order in which they appear.

3. The candidate shall meet all of the objectives for Certified Honor Guard Member before being certified.

(3) Objectives

(a) The objectives of this standard are based on the ability of the Certified Honor Guard Member to demonstrate knowledge and skills as outlined in the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission Teaching Outline for Certified Honor Guard Member, current edition.
