The Appalachian Youth Scholarship Program (AYSP) is authorized by a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded through the Alabama ARC Area Development Program of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. The purpose of the program is to provide scholarship assistance for deserving young persons who live in Alabama's Appalachian region, who need financial help in order to attend college, and who are likely to return to their communities after graduation.
