Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, 42 U.S.C. 4332(2)(C) the National Park Service (NPS) announces the availability of a Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) on Off-Road Vehicle Management in the Nabesna District of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve. The FEIS evaluates the environmental impacts of a preferred alternative and four action alternatives for management of off-road vehicles in the Nabesna District. The purpose is to consider opportunities for appropriate and reasonable access to wilderness and backcountry recreational activities, which also accommodates subsistence and access to inholdings; while protecting scenic quality, fish and wildlife habitat, and other park resource values. A no action alternative is also evaluated. This notice officially begins the 30-day waiting period before the Record of Decision can be issued.

As required by the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the National Park Service (NPS) is hereby giving notice that the Advisory Committee on the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail will hold a meeting. Designated through an amendment to the National Trails System Act (16 U.S.C. 1241), the trail consists of ``a series of water routes extending approximately 3,000 miles along the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries in the States of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and in the District of Columbia,'' tracing the 1607-1609 voyages of Captain John Smith to chart the land and waterways of the Chesapeake Bay. This meeting is open to the public. Preregistration is required for both public attendance and comment. Any individual who wishes to attend the meeting and/or participate in the public comment session should register via e-mail at Christine_Lucero@nps.gov or telephone: (757) 258-8914. Consistent with NPS laws, regulations, and policies and the purpose of the Park, the Draft EIS/GMP describes the NPS preferred alternativeAlternative 4to guide the management of the Park over the next 20 to 30 years. The preferred alternative incorporates various management prescriptions to ensure protection, access and enjoyment of the park's resources. An up-to-date GMP is needed to address how visitors access and use the park and the facilities needed to support those uses, how resources are managed, and how the NPS manages its operations. Recent studies have enhanced the NPS's understanding of resources, resource threats, and visitor use in the park.

This plan is intended to guide future management of ground and surface water sources within Mojave National Preserve. The original Notice of Intent to prepare an EIS (published in the Federal Register on May 11, 2011) announced a 60-day public comment period. In recognition of the complexity and scope of the forthcoming EIS, and with deference to interest from the public and interested organizations, the comment period has been extended.

Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended [42 U.S.C. 4332(2)(C)], the National Park Service (NPS) announces the availability of the Record of Decision for the General Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement (GMP/EIS) for Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historic Park (NHP) in Frederick, Shenandoah, and Warren Counties, Virginia. The Regional Director, Northeast Region, approved the Record of Decision for the GMP/EIS, selecting Action Alternative D, the NPS preferred alternative, as described in the Final GMP/EIS issued on January 21, 2011. The Record of Decision (ROD) includes a statement of the decision made, a synopsis of other alternatives considered, the basis for the decision, a description of the environmentally preferable alternative, a finding on impairment of park resources and values, a listing of measures to minimize environmental harm, and an overview of public involvement in the decision-making process. The approved General Management Plan will guide long-term management of Cedar Creek and Belle Grove NHP. As soon as practicable, the NPS will begin to implement the selected alternative.
