Solicitation of Applications for the MBDA Business Center (MBC) Program

The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) is soliciting competitive applications from organizations to operate a MBDA Business Center (MBC). This notice specifies the thirty (30) MBC projects and their respective locations are being individually competed. The MBC program delivers strategic business consulting services to eligible minority business enterprise (MBE) clients through the use of business consultants and the leveraging of strategic partnerships. Responsibility for ensuring that applications in response to this competitive solicitation are complete and received by MBDA on time is the sole responsibility of the applicant. Applications submitted must be for the operation of a MBC and to provide business consulting services to eligible MBEs. Applications that do not meet these requirements will be rejected. This is not a grant program to help start or to further an individual business. A link to the full text of the Announcement of Federal Funding Opportunity (FFO) for this solicitation may be accessed at: https:// www.Grants.gov, or at https://www.mbda.gov. The FFO contains a full and complete description of the application and programmatic requirements under the MBC Program. Extension of the Award Period for Certain Minority Business Enterprise Centers

The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) publishes this notice of a funded extension of up to nine months, on a non-competitive basis, of the award periods for those Minority Business Enterprise Centers (MBECs) identified in this notice. This action is necessary to allow for continued program delivery by the incumbent MBEC operators while MBDA completes the development of a new minority business development grant program, solicits competitive applications and processes new awards.
Notice of the Re-Opening of the Deadline To Receive Nominations for the National Advisory Council on Minority Business Enterprise

The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), U.S. Department of Commerce, solicited nominations for individuals to serve on the National Advisory Council on Minority Business Enterprise (NACMBE) pursuant to a Federal Register Notice published on March 29, 2010 (75 FR 15413). The March 29, 2010 notice provided that all nominations must be received on or before May 3, 2010. On May 3, 2010, MBDA published a Federal Register Notice (75 FR 23238) extending the deadline for the receipt of nominations until May 10, 2010. This notice re-opens the nomination period for NACMBE membership and allows for the receipt of nominations on or before 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on June 30, 2010. The purpose of this notice is to allow the public additional time to submit nominations. The requirements for submitting nominations and the evaluation criteria for selecting members contained in the March 29, 2010 notice shall continue to apply in their entirety and, for convenience, are being republished in this notice.

The Minority Business Development Agency solicited nominations for individuals to serve as members of the National Advisory Council for Minority Business Enterprise pursuant to a Federal Register notice published on March 29, 2010 (75 FR 15413). The March 29, 2010 notice provided that all applications must be received by the Minority Business Development Agency, U.S. Department of Commerce, by 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on May 3, 2010. This notice extends the nomination period to May 10, 2010 at 5 p.m. (EDT), in order to provide the public with additional time to submit nominations. The requirements for submitting nominations and the evaluation criteria for selecting members contained in the March 29, 2010 notice shall continue to apply in their entirety and, for convenience, are being republished in this notice. Persons who have previously submitted nominations remain under consideration and do not need to resubmit their nomination materials, although they may amend or revise such nomination materials on or before the extended closing date of May 10, 2010. App. 2, and with the concurrence of the General Services Administration, the Department of Commerce is announcing the establishment of the National Advisory Council on Minority Business Enterprise (NACMBE). On December 30, 2009, the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) published a notice in the Federal Register (74 FR 69072) soliciting competitive grant applications under the Agency's Minority Business Enterprise Center (MBEC) program. The original notice solicited applications for operators of the New Orleans MBEC project, and identified New Orleans, LA as the physical location of the MBEC office and the New Orleans-Metairie-Kenner, LA Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) as the geographical service area for the project. In addition, the original solicitation provided for a pre-application conference to be held on January 15, 2010, and for an application closing date of February 1, 2010.
