This document cancels a public hearing on proposed regulations for the suspension of interest, penalties, additions to tax, or additional amounts under section 6404(g) of the Internal Revenue Code. The proposed regulations explain the general rules for suspension as well as exceptions to those general rules.

The Department of the Treasury, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, invites the general public and other Federal agencies to take this opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing information collections, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, Public Law 104-13 (44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A)). Currently, the IRS is soliciting comments concerning an existing final regulation, REG-209830-96 (TD 8779), Estate and Gift Tax Marital Deduction.
