Reimbursement for Caskets and Urns for Burial of Unclaimed Remains in a National Cemetery or a VA-Funded State or Tribal Veterans' Cemetery
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is updating the monetary reimbursement rates for caskets and urns purchased for interment in a VA national cemetery or a VA-funded state or tribal veterans' cemetery of veterans who die with no known next of kin and where there are insufficient resources for furnishing a burial container. The purpose of this notice is to notify interested parties of the rates that will apply to reimbursement claims that occur during calendar year (CY) 2022.

Privacy Act of 1974; Matching Program
This is an 18-month re-establishment computer matching agreement (CMA) with the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC), Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), regarding Veterans who are in return to active duty and in receipt of compensation or pension benefits. The purpose of this CMA is to re-establish the agreement between VA, Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and the DoD, DMDC. DoD will disclose information about individuals who have returned to active duty. VBA will use this information as a match for recipients of Compensation and Pension benefits for adjustments of awards.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is issuing this final rule to amend its regulation regarding the process for identifying and paying appropriate payees entitled to retroactive benefits. This amendment is necessary to implement a federal district court order directing the VA to remove certain regulatory text concerning subsequent release of compensation to a payee when the full amount of unpaid benefits has previously been released.
