The Maritime Administration (MARAD) invites public comments on our intention to request the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval to renew an information collection in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The proposed collection OMB 2133-0540 (Determining Vessel Services Categories For Purposes of the Cargo Preference Act) will be used to create a list of Vessel Self- Designations. We are required to publish this notice in the Federal Register to obtain comments from the public and affected agencies.
MARAD Mariner Workforce Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2023-2027
In accordance with the requirements of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the Maritime Administration (MARAD) has developed and published a Mariner Workforce Strategic Plan for fiscal years 2023-2027 (the Plan) to recruit, train, and retain merchant mariners. Deepwater Port License Application: Grand Isle LNG Operating Company, LLC; Application Withdrawal
The Maritime Administration (MARAD) and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) announce the cancellation of all actions related to the processing of a license application for the proposed Grand Isle LNG Export Deepwater Port Development Project deepwater port. The action announced here also includes cancellation of all activities related to the deepwater port application review and preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement that was previously published in the Federal Register on Monday, July 3, 2023. Solicitation of Applications for the Award of One Tanker Security Program Operating Agreement
The Maritime Administration (MARAD) requests applications from eligible candidates for one TSP operating agreement. The Tanker Security Program is comprised of a fleet of active, commercially viable, militarily useful, and privately owned product tank vessels. The fleet provides for national defense and other security requirements and maintains a United States presence in international commercial shipping. This solicitation for applications provides, among other things, application criteria and a deadline for submitting applications for the enrollment of one vessel into the TSP.
Decommissioning and Disposition of the National Historic Landmark Nuclear Ship Savannah; Notice of Public Meeting
The Maritime Administration (MARAD) announces a public meeting of the Peer Review Group (PRG). The PRG was established pursuant to the requirements of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and its implementing regulations to plan for the decommissioning and disposition of the Nuclear Ship Savannah (NSS). PRG membership is comprised of officials from the U.S. Department of Transportation, MARAD, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), and the Maryland State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) and other consulting parties. The public meeting affords the public an opportunity to participate in PRG activities, including reviewing and providing comments on draft deliverables.
