The Bureau of Indian Affairs is seeking comments from the public on an extension of an information collection from persons seeking proof of American Indian or Alaska Native blood, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act. The information collected under OMB Control Number 1076-0153 will be used to establish that the applicants meet requirements for official recognition as an American Indian or Alaska native for purposes of eligibility determination and participation in programs administered through the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Reindeer in Alaska
The Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), is publishing these regulations on the Alaska Native reindeer industry to implement the provisions of the Reindeer Act of 1937, as amended. These regulations also apply to non-Natives who own, or want to own, reindeer in Alaska. These regulations provide Alaska Native reindeer owners, government officials, and those doing business with them, with procedures and policies for administration of the reindeer industry in Alaska.

These corrections are as follows: The two-letter abbreviation for Alaska in the Notice heading was incorrectly given as ``AL.'' The correct abbreviation for Alaska is AK. Tribal Self-Governance Program Information Collection
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is seeking comments from the public on an extension of an information collection from potential Self-Governance Tribes, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act. The information collected under OMB Clearance Number, 1076-0143, will be used to establish requirements for entry into the pool of qualified applicants for self-governance, to provide information for awarding grants, and to meet reporting requirements of the Self-Governance Act.
