The Maritime Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (MACOSH) was established to advise the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health on issues relating to occupational safety and health in the maritime industries. OSHA requests comment concerning its request for an extension of the information-collection requirements specified by its Regulation on National Recognized Testing Laboratory (29 CFR 1910.7). The Regulation specifies procedures that organizations must follow to apply for, and to maintain, OSHA's recognition to test and certify equipment, products, or material for workplace safety purposes.
Updating National Consensus Standards in OSHA's Standard for Fire Protection in Shipyard Employment

OSHA is confirming the effective date of its direct final rule for shipyards that incorporated by reference 19 National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. The direct final rule stated that it would become effective on January 16, 2007 unless significant adverse comment was received by November 16, 2006. No adverse comments were received. Therefore, the rule will become effective on January 16, 2007.
