The Employment and Training Administration (ETA), in coordination with the Department's Office of Disability Employment Policy, announces the availability of approximately $15 million in grant funds authorized by Section171 of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 for the Round V Disability Employment Initiative. We expect to fund approximately eight grants, ranging from $1.5 million to $2.5 million each. Applicants may apply for up to $2.5 million. The Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration is reopening the period for public comment on proposed regulatory amendments relating to enhanced disclosure concerning target date or similar investments, originally proposed November 30, 2010, in a previously published document in the Federal Register. In 2013, the Securities and Exchange Commission's Investor Advisory Committee recommended that the Commission develop a glide path illustration for target date funds that is based on a standardized measure of fund risk as a replacement for, or supplement to, an asset allocation glide path illustration. The Department is reopening the comment period on its 2010 proposal, which contained an asset allocation glide path illustration requirement, to seek public comment on this recommendation.
Secretary of Labor Extends the Transition Period of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands-Only Transitional Worker Program

The Consolidated Natural Resources Act of 2008 (CNRA) extended U.S. immigration laws to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), and authorized the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to create the CNMI-Only Transitional Worker (CW-1) program to ensure adequate employment in the CNMI until the program is phased out on December 31, 2014. The CNRA also requires the Secretary of Labor, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of the Interior, and the Governor of the CNMI, to determine by July 4, 2014, whether an extension of up to five years of the CW-1 program is necessary to ensure an adequate number of workers will be available for legitimate businesses in the CNMI. Based on the factors set out in the CNRA, the Secretary of Labor has made the determination to extend the CW-1 program for five years.
