Reducing Regulatory Burden; Retrospective Review Under E.O. 13563
In response to the President's Executive Order 13563 on improving regulation and regulatory review, the Department of Labor (DOL or the Department) is preparing a preliminary plan to review its existing significant regulations. The purpose of this notice is to invite public comment on how the Department can improve any of its significant regulations by modifying, streamlining, expanding, or repealing them.
Agency Information Collection Activities: Proposed Collection Extension; Comment Request; Equal Access to Justice Act
The Department of Labor is soliciting comments concerning the proposed extension of the information collection request (ICR) for applicants to obtain awards in administrative proceedings subject to the Equal Access to Justice Act.
Proposed Extension of the Approval of Information Collection Requirements
The Department of Labor, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, conducts a preclearance consultation program to provide the general public and Federal agencies with an opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing collections of information in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA95). 44 U.S.C. 3056(c)(2)(A). This program helps to ensure that requested data can be provided in the desired format, reporting burden (time and financial resources) is minimized, collection instruments are clearly understood, and the impact of collection requirements on respondents can be properly assessed. Currently, the Wage and Hour Division is soliciting comments concerning its proposal to extend Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval of the Information Collection: Housing Occupancy CertificateMigrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act. Workforce Investment Act; Lower Living Standard Income Level
Under Title I of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 (Pub. L. 105-220), the Secretary of Labor annually determines the Lower Living Standard Income level (LLSIL) for uses described in the law. WIA defines the term ``Low Income Individual'' as one who qualifies under various criteria, including an individual who received income for a six-month period that does not exceed the higher level of the poverty line or 70 percent of the LLSIL. This issuance provides the Secretary's annual LLSIL for 2011 and references the current 2011 Health and Human Services ``Poverty Guidelines.''
