Schedules of Controlled Substances; Placement of Fospropofol Into Schedule IV
With the issuance of this final rule, the Deputy Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) places the substance fospropofol, including its salts, isomers and salts of isomers whenever the existence of such salts, isomers, and salts of isomers is possible, into schedule IV of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). As a result of this rule, the regulatory controls and criminal sanctions of schedule IV will be applicable to the manufacture, distribution, dispensing, importation, and exportation of fospropofol and products containing fospropofol.
Office of Information Policy; Attorney General Memorandum for Executive Departments and Agencies Concerning the Freedom of Information Act
On January 21, 2009, the President issued a memorandum for the heads of executive departments and agencies on the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). That memorandum required that the Attorney General issue new guidelines governing the FOIA to the heads of executive departments and agencies, reaffirming the commitment to accountability and transparency, and to publish such guidelines in the Federal Register. Pursuant to the President's directive, the Attorney General issued new FOIA guidelines on March 19, 2009. Those guidelines are now published here.
Meeting of the Compact Council for the National Crime Prevention and Privacy Compact
The purpose of this notice is to announce a meeting of the National Crime Prevention and Privacy Compact Council (Council) created by the National Crime Prevention and Privacy Compact Act of 1998 (Compact) Thus far, the Federal Government and 28 states are parties to the Compact which governs the exchange of criminal history records for licensing, employment, and similar purposes. The Compact also provides a legal framework for the establishment of a cooperative federal-state system to exchange such records.

NIJ is hosting this workshop specifically to introduce manufacturers to the new NIJ Restraints Standard that is under development and to receive feedback. This standard is a revised and enhanced version of the NIJ Standard for Metallic Handcuffs from 1982. Participants are strongly encouraged to come prepared to ask questions and to voice suggestions and concerns.
The Attorney General's Advisory Committee of United States Attorneys
This rule amends the Department of Justice regulation concerning the Attorney General's Advisory Committee of United States Attorneys. The amendments will provide the Attorney General greater flexibility in determining the size of the Committee, and will provide that the Attorney General will select the Committee's leadership.
