Coast Guard March 21, 2016 – Federal Register Recent Federal Regulation Documents

The Coast Guard proposes to establish a temporary safety zone for certain waters of the Buffalo River. This action is necessary to provide for the safety of life on these navigable waters near Buffalo River Works, Buffalo, NY, during the Hope Chest Buffalo Niagara Dragon Boat Festival on June 18, 2016. This proposed rulemaking would prohibit persons and vessels from passing through the safety zone during race heats unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Buffalo or a designated representative. The Coast Guard proposes to establish a safety zone for Coco's Crossing swim event in the waters of Coco's Lagoon, Guam. This event is scheduled to take place from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 29, 2015. This safety zone is necessary to protect all persons and vessels participating in this marine event from potential safety hazards associated with vessel traffic in the area. Race participants, chase boats and organizers of the event will be exempt from the safety zone. Entry of persons or vessels into this safety zone is prohibited unless authorized by the Captain of the Port (COTP). We invite your comments on this proposed rulemaking.

The Coast Guard proposes to establish a safety zone for certain waters of the Columbia River in the vicinity of Howard Amon Park, Richland, WA, between River Miles 337 and 338, during a hydroplane boat race from June 3, 2016, through June 5, 2016. This action is necessary to provide for the safety of life on the navigable waters during the event. This proposed rulemaking would prohibit persons and vessels from being in the safety zone unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Sector Columbia River or a designated representative.
