The Ouachita National Forest is withdrawing its notice of intent to prepare an environmental impact statement for the Heavener Coal Leasing Project. The original notice of intent was published in the Federal Register (FR Vol. 88, No. 246) on December 26, 2023. The Ouachita National Forest's decision to withdraw the notice of intent is based on the project proponent's (Ouro Mining Inc.) decision to withdraw their request for a lease of Federal metallurgical coal.

Hazardous substances and/or pollutants or contaminants have come to be located at the site.

The Modoc Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) will hold a public meeting according to the details shown below. The committee is authorized under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self- Determination Act (the Act) and operates in compliance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act. The purpose of the committee is to improve collaborative relationships and to provide advice and recommendations to the Forest Service concerning projects and funding consistent with Title II of the Act, as well as make recommendations on recreation fee proposals for sites on the Modoc National Forest within Modoc County, consistent with the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking to re- establish the Advisory Committee on Agriculture Statistics for two- years as a discretionary committee and call for member nominations to fill vacancies. Effective October 1, 1996, responsibility for the census of agriculture program was transferred to the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) at USDA from the Bureau of the Census, U.S. Department of Commerce. Effective February 2, 1997, NASS also received the transferred program positions and staff from the Bureau of the Census, U.S. Department of Commerce. Responsibility for the Advisory Committee on Agriculture Statistics was established by agency authority, was transferred, along with its allocated slot, to USDA with the census of agriculture program. The Committee is also established in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA).
