Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of the rules and regulations of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (Commission) and the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) that a meeting of the Nevada Advisory Committee (Committee) to the Commission will be held at 9:00 a.m. (Pacific Time) Friday, May 3, 2019. The Nevada Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights will hold a community forum to hear from stakeholders and members of the public concerning policing practices and implications for the administration of justice on individuals on the basis of disability (individuals with mental health concerns), veteran status, and race. The Committee intends to view this topic through the lens of Pillar 4 (Community Policing & Crime Reduction) of the Report of the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing. The Committee welcomes the public to share their comments and opinions during open comment period.

The purpose of the briefing is to hear from community members about school discipline and civil rights in Vermont public schools.

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of the rules and regulations of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (Commission) and the Federal Advisory Committee Act that the Nebraska Advisory Committee (Committee) will hold a series of public meetings, via conference call, in preparation to host a public hearing on civil rights and prison conditions for individuals with mental health conditions in the state. The Committee will discuss plans for the public hearing, in order to determine date, time, location, invited speakers, and discuss other necessary preparations. The Committee may also discuss other outreach strategies to collect additional testimony on the topic as a part of their current civil rights study.

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of the rules and regulations of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (Commission) and the Federal Advisory Committee Act that the Texas Advisory Committee (Committee) will hold meetings via web conference on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 and Thursday, April 18, 2019 both at 1:00 p.m. Central Time. The Texas Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights will host two webinars sharing findings, documented in a recent Advisory Memorandum that was featured in the Commission's 2018 Statutory Enforcement Report on voting rights in the U.S., focused on the experience of voters in the areas of voter registration, access to and administration of polling locations, and language access. The Committee will also share recommendations intended for federal, state, and local agencies and will answer questions from the community. The April 3 webinar will focus on voter registration and the April 18 webinar will focus on access to and administration of polling locations, and language access.
