The Bureau of the Census (Census Bureau) is giving notice of a meeting of the National Advisory Committee on Racial, Ethnic and Other Populations (NAC). The NAC will address policy, research, and technical issues relating to a full range of Census Bureau programs and activities, including communications, decennial, demographic, economic, field operations, geographic, information technology, and statistics. The NAC will meet in a plenary session on May 26-27, 2016. Last minute changes to the schedule are possible, which could prevent us from giving advance public notice of schedule adjustments. The Bureau of the Census (Census Bureau) is issuing this notice to correct the Census Bureau Web site address that identifies how to access the teleconference meeting via WebEx. The Census Bureau originally published in the Federal Register on Friday, April 8, 2016 (81 FR 20617), a Notice of Public Virtual Meeting for the National Advisory Committee. This notice corrects the Census Bureau WebEx teleconference URL link. The Bureau of the Census (U.S. Census Bureau) publishes this notice to request public comment on the content of the 2017 Census of Governments. The Census of Governments is conducted at 5-year intervals (years ending in 2 and 7) and is the most comprehensive compilation of statistics about state and local governments available. The Census Bureau is seeking input on the content of the 2017 Census of Governments to ensure that the Census of Governments continues to be the most comprehensive measure of state and local governments by adapting to growing areas of interest, accounting and policy changes. The granting of specific authority to conduct the program is Title 13, United States Code (U.S.C.), Section 161, which authorizes and requires the Census of Governments.
