The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will convene a meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes (ACMUI) on September 11-12, 2017. A sample of agenda items to be discussed during the public session includes: An update on medical-related events; a discussion on medical event reporting and impact on safety culture; an update on the licensing guidance for yttrium-90 microsphere brachytherapy; a discussion on the training and experience requirements for authorized individuals for various modalities; an update on the patient release project; an update on Category 3 source security and accountability evaluation initiatives; a discussion on the nursing mother guidelines for exposure to diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals; and a discussion on the physical presence requirements for the Leksell Gamma Knife[supreg] IconTM. Purpose: Discuss issues related to title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) part 35 Medical Use of Byproduct Material. Date and Time for Open Sessions: September 11, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and September 12, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Data and Time for Closed Sessions: September 11, 2017, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. These sessions will be closed on September 11, 2017, for badging and enrollment for new members to the ACMUI and for annual required training, respectively.
