The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will convene a meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes (ACMUI) on September 11-12, 2017. A sample of agenda items to be discussed during the public session includes: An update on medical-related events; a discussion on medical event reporting and impact on safety culture; an update on the licensing guidance for yttrium-90 microsphere brachytherapy; a discussion on the training and experience requirements for authorized individuals for various modalities; an update on the patient release project; an update on Category 3 source security and accountability evaluation initiatives; a discussion on the nursing mother guidelines for exposure to diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals; and a discussion on the physical presence requirements for the Leksell Gamma Knife[supreg] IconTM.
