The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is proposing to amend its regulations implementing the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The regulations are being revised to update and streamline the language of several procedural provisions and to incorporate certain changes brought about by the amendments to the FOIA under the Openness Promotes Effectiveness in our National (OPEN) Government Act of 2007. Additionally, the regulations are being updated to reflect developments in case law and to include current cost figures to be used in calculating and charging fees.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), with the concurrence of the Office of Government Ethics (OGE), is amending the Supplemental Standards of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The interim rule will permit student interns to seek prior approval to engage in outside employment with a NASA contractor, subcontractor, grantee, or party to a NASA agreement in connection with work performed by that entity or under that agreement. These amendments will clarify the types of outside employment activities that require approval; streamline the process for approval; eliminate obsolete position titles; and extend the permissible time period of approval.
NASA Community Workshop on the Global Exploration Roadmap

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration announces that the agency will conduct a public workshop to involve the broader community in work related to the second iteration of the Global Exploration Roadmap, released in August 2013. The updated roadmap identifies candidate early exploration missions, including the Asteroid Redirect Mission, extended duration missions in the lunar vicinity and lunar surface missions that demonstrate the capabilities and techniques for human exploration of deep space and Mars. NASA will share the status of work related to the mission themes in the roadmap and encourage workshop participants to share their innovative ideas for meeting the challenges ahead.
