The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, conducts a pre-clearance consultation program to provide the general public and federal agencies with an opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing collections of information in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA95) (44 U.S.C. Sec. 3506(c)(2)(A)). This program helps to ensure that requested data can be provided in the desired format, reporting burden (time and financial resources) is minimized, collection instruments are clearly understood, and the impact of collection requirement on respondents can be properly assessed. Currently, CNCS is soliciting comments concerning its proposed AmeriCorps NCCC's (National Civilian Community Corps) Member Experience Survey. This survey was developed to support NCCC performance measurement for use in program development, funding, and evaluation. The survey instrument will be completed by NCCC Members following the completion of their service term. In particular, this survey will be administered to NCCC Members who are exiting early or have already exited early from the AmeriCorps NCCC program. Completion of this information collection is not required for the completion of a service term with NCCC. Currently, CNCS is soliciting comments concerning its proposed renewal of the AmeriCorps Interest Payment Form/AmeriCorpsManual Interest Payment Request Form (OMB#3045-0053). The AmeriCorps Interest Payment Form/AmeriCorpsManual Interest Payment Request Form (OMB#3045-0053) is used to pay all or a portion of the interest that accrues on a member's qualified student loan during their service period, if their loans were in forbearance and if they successfully completed their term of service. This payment is in addition to the education award. The intention is to keep the qualified student loan debt of members from increasing as a result of their national service. The percentage of accrued interest CNCS pays is determined by a formula based on the member's term of service. The information collected is not required to be considered for or to obtain grant funding support from AmeriCorps.
