description (PAD) form is used to
update the OSMRE’s electronic
inventory of abandoned mine lands (eAMLIS); an inventory of abandoned
mine lands is required by section 403(c)
of the Surface Mining Control and
Reclamation Act of 1977, as amended
(30 U.S.C. 1233(c)). From this inventory,
the most serious problem areas are
selected for reclamation through the
apportionment of funds to States and
Indian tribes.
