AGENCY: ACTION: The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) intends to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) to evaluate the potential environmental effects associated with the future management of coal combustion residuals (CCR) material in Ash Pond 2 at the Johnsonville Fossil Plant (JOF) located in Humphreys County, Tennessee. This EIS supports the implementation of the closure of Ash Pond 2, a CCR surface impoundment at JOF, in a manner that is protective of human health and the environment. TVA’s intention to prepare an EIS to address CCR management at JOF Ash Pond 2 was previously noticed in November 2019. The project was paused after completion of scoping while TVA continued to refine the project proposal and alternatives. This current notice is to reinitiate the EIS. DATES: The public scoping period begins with the publication of this Notice of Intent in the Federal Register.
