ACTION: Notice of Chinese military
companies.
AGENCY:
The Secretary of Defense has
determined that the entities listed in the
SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION section of
this notice qualify as ‘‘Chinese military
companies’’ in accordance with the
William M. (Mac) Thornberry National
Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for
Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21).

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Section
1260H of the William M. (Mac)
Thornberry NDAA for FY21 (Pub. L.
116–283) requires the Secretary of
Defense to continue to list ‘‘Chinese
military companies’’ (CMCs) annually
until December 31, 2030. Paragraph
(b)(2) of this section requires the
Secretary of Defense to publish the
unclassified portion of such list in the
Federal Register.
The Secretary of Defense has

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The
SCRA, as codified at 50 U.S.C. 3951,
prohibits a landlord from evicting a
Service member (or the Service
member’s family) from a residence
during a period of military service,
except by court order. The law as
originally passed by Congress applied to
dwellings with monthly rents of $2,400
or less. The SCRA requires the Secretary
of Defense to adjust this amount
annually to reflect inflation and to
publish the new amount in the Federal
Register. Applying the housing price
inflation adjustment for 2024, the
maximum monthly rental amount for 50
U.S.C. 3951(a)(1)(A)(2) as of January 1,
2024, is $9,812.12.
