The Federal Subsistence
Board (Board) announces the public
meetings of the 10 Alaska Subsistence
Regional Advisory Councils (Councils)
for the winter and fall cycles of 2024.
The Councils each meet approximately
twice a year to provide advice and
recommendations to the Board about
subsistence hunting and fishing issues
on Federal public lands in Alaska.
DATES:
Winter 2024 Meetings: The Councils
will meet during a joint session on
March 5, 2024, will hold joint training
session on March 6, 2024, and will hold
individual concurrent sessions on

The meetings will begin at 8 a.m. Alaska
time and end at approximately 5 p.m.

Fall 2024 Meetings: The Councils will
meet between August 19 and October

Regional Advisory Councils (Councils),
in accordance with the Federal
Advisory Committee Act (5 U.S.C. ch.
10). Established in 1993, the Councils
are statutory Federal advisory
committees that provide a public forum
for their regions and recommendations
to the Board about subsistence hunting,
trapping, and fishing issues on Federal
public lands in Alaska, as authorized by
section 805 of the Alaska National
Interest Lands Conservation Act
(ANILCA; 16 U.S.C. 3111–3126).
The Councils are a crucial link
between federally qualified subsistence
users and the Board. The Board is a
multi-agency body that includes
representatives of the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service, National Park Service,
Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of
Indian Affairs, and U.S. Forest Service,
as well as a chair and two public
members who are appointed by the
Secretary of the Interior with the

local circumstances. A teleconference
will substitute for an in-person meeting
if public health or safety restrictions are
in effect. The final draft agendas, callin numbers, instructions on how to
participate and provide public
comments, and other related meeting
information will be posted on the
Federal Subsistence Management
Program website and at https://
www.facebook.com/subsistencealaska/.
Transcripts of the meetings are
maintained by the program and will be
available for public inspection within

Interior is soliciting nominations for the
Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Public Advisory
Committee (Committee). This
Committee advises the Exxon Valdez
Oil Spill Trustee Council on decisions
related to the planning, evaluation,
funds allocation, and conduct of injury
assessment and restoration activities
related to the T/V Exxon Valdez oil spill
of March 1989.

Agreement and Consent Decree entered
into by the United States of America
and the State of Alaska on August 27,
1991, and approved by the United States
District Court for the District of Alaska
in settlement of United States of
America v. State of Alaska, Civil Action
No. A91–081 CV. The Committee
advises the Trustee Council on matters
relating to decisions on injury
assessment, restoration activities, or
other use of natural resource damage
recoveries obtained by the government.
The Trustee Council consists of
representatives of the U.S. Department
of the Interior, U.S. Department of
Agriculture, National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration, Alaska
Department of Fish and Game, Alaska
Department of Environmental
Conservation, and Alaska Department of
Law.
The Committee consists of 10
members to reflect balanced
representation from each of the
following principal interests:
aquaculture/mariculture, commercial
tourism, conservation/environmental,
recreation, subsistence use, commercial
fishing, native landownership, sport
hunting/fishing, science/technology,
and public-at-large. We are soliciting
nominations for seven positions that
represent aquaculture/mariculture,
commercial tourism, recreation,
subsistence use, commercial fishing,
native landownership, and public-atlarge interests. The Committee members
will be selected and appointed by the
Secretary of the Interior to serve a fouryear term.
Nomination Process: Nominations for
membership may be submitted by any
source. Nominations should include a
re´sume´ providing an adequate
description of the nominee’s
qualifications, including information
that would enable the Department of the
Interior to evaluate the nominee’s ability
to meet Committee membership
requirements and to contact a potential
member.
