ACTION: Notice of public briefing.
AGENCY:
Notice is hereby given,
pursuant to the provisions of the rules
and regulations of the U.S. Commission
on Civil Rights (Commission) and the
Federal Advisory Committee Act, that
the West Virginia Advisory Committee
(Committee) to the U.S. Commission on
Civil Rights will hold a public briefing
via Zoom. The purpose of the briefing
is to hear testimony from officials and
staff from the WV Department of
Education on the civil rights impacts
that exclusionary and punitive
disciplinary policies, practices, and
procedures may have on students of
color, students with disabilities and
LGBTQ+ students in West Virginia
public schools.
DATES: Friday, September 29, 2023, from
10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

agency to which the advisory
committee reports determines such
meetings may be closed to the public
in accordance with subsection (c) of
the Government in the Sunshine Act
(5 U.S.C. 552b(c)). In this case, the
applicable provisions of 5 U.S.C.
552b(c) are subsection 552b(c)(4),
which permits closure to protect trade
secrets and commercial or financial
information that is privileged or
confidential, and subsection
552b(c)(9)(B), which permits closure
to protect information that would be
likely to significantly frustrate
implementation of a proposed agency
action were it to be disclosed
