ACTION: Notice. In compliance with the requirement of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 to provide opportunity for public comment on proposed data collection projects, the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI), Office of the Director (OD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), plans to request review and approval by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) of the information collection listed below. DATES: Comments regarding this information collection are best assured of having their full effect if received within 30 days of the date of this publication. SUMMARY: Written comments and recommendations for the proposed information collection should be sent within 30 days of publication of this notice to www.reginfo.gov/public/do/ PRAMain. Need and Use of Information Collection: The purpose of this form is to obtain information needed by NIH to assess whether the proposed research satisfies the agency’s policy for permitting only noninvasive research involving chimpanzees. NIH will consider the information submitted through this form prior to the agency making funding decisions or otherwise allowing the research to begin. Completion of this form is a mandatory step toward receiving NIH support or approval for noninvasive research involving chimpanzees. NIH does not fund any research involving chimpanzees proposed in new or other competing projects (renewals or revisions) unless the research is consistent with the definition of ‘‘noninvasive research,’’ as described in the ‘‘Standards of Care for Chimpanzees Held in the Federally Supported Chimpanzee Sanctuary System’’ (42 CFR part 9).
