Requests for Disposition
Written requests for disposition of the
human remains in this notice must be
sent to the Responsible Official
identified in ADDRESSES. Requests for
disposition may be submitted by:
1. Any one or more of the Indian
Tribes identified in this notice.
2. Any lineal descendant, Indian
Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization
not identified in this notice who shows,
by a preponderance of the evidence, that
the requestor is a lineal descendant or
a culturally affiliated Indian Tribe or
Native Hawaiian organization, or who
shows that the requestor is an aboriginal
land Indian Tribe.
Disposition of the human remains and
associated funerary objects described in
this notice to a requestor may occur on
or after November 28, 2022. If
competing requests for disposition are
received, the ARAS must determine the
most appropriate requestor prior to
disposition. Requests for joint
disposition of the human remains are
considered a single request and not
competing requests. The ARAS is
responsible for sending a copy of this
notice to the Indian Tribes identified in
this notice.

to conduct activities regulated under the
Antarctic Conservation Act of 1978.
NSF has published regulations under
the Antarctic Conservation Act in the
Code of Federal Regulations. This is the
required notice of permit applications
received.
SUMMARY:
Interested parties are invited to
submit written data, comments, or
views with respect to this permit
application by November 28, 2022. This
application may be inspected by
interested parties at the Permit Office,

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The
National Science Foundation, as
directed by the Antarctic Conservation
Act of 1978 (Pub. L. 95–541, 45 CFR
670), as amended by the Antarctic
Science, Tourism and Conservation Act
of 1996, has developed regulations for
the establishment of a permit system for
various activities in Antarctica and
designation of certain animals and
certain geographic areas a requiring
special protection. The regulations
establish such a permit system to
designate Antarctic Specially Protected
Areas.
