With respect to the following collection of information, VBA invites comments on: (1) Whether the proposed collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of VBA’s functions, including whether the information will have practical utility; (2) the accuracy of VBA’s estimate of the burden of the proposed collection of information; (3) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and (4) ways to minimize the burden of the collection of information on respondents, including through the use of automated collection techniques or the use of other forms of information technology. Abstract: VA Form 26–6393 is currently used by employees of both lending institutions and VA to determine the ability of a borrower to qualify for any type of VA-guaranteed loan authorized by 38 U.S.C. 3710(a). Lenders complete and submit the form to provide evidence that the lender’s decision to submit a prior approval loan application or close a loan on the automatic basis is based upon appropriate application of VA credit standards as required by 38 U.S.C. 3710(b) and 3710(g). Section 36.4340, 38 CFR, implements those underwriting standards, which include evaluating income, expenses, and credit history. This form specifically pertains to those standards evaluating a borrower’s present and anticipated income and expenses and credit history. Affected Public: Individuals and households.
