AGENCY:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC) is considering
issuance of amendments to Facility
Operating License Nos. DPR–42 and
DPR–60, issued to Northern States
Power Company, for operation of the
Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant,
Units 1 and 2. The proposed
amendments would allow a one-time
extension of the allowed outage time for
the motor-driven cooling pump (MDCP)
as a contingency for planned

II. Introduction
The NRC is considering issuance of
amendments to Facility Operating
License Nos. DPR–42 and DPR–60,
issued to Northern States Power
Company, for operation of the Prairie
Island Nuclear Generating Plant, Units 1
and 2, located in Goodhue County,
Minnesota.
The proposed amendments would
allow a one-time extension of the
allowed outage time for the MDCP as a
contingency for planned maintenance
on the CL system.
Before any issuance of the proposed
license amendments, the NRC will need
to make the findings required by the
Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended
(the Act), and NRC’s regulations.
The NRC has made a proposed
determination that the license
amendment requests involve no
