By letter dated July 7, 2020, FRA granted CMTY an extension of relief until December 31, 2021, in which to acquire brake components required for CMTY’s four GTW G–4 diesel multiple units, due to manufacturing delays of the components. At this time, CMTY requests an additional six-month extension of the previously granted relief, as manufacturing delays are causing additional time to be needed for the final air brake kit to be rebuilt and recertified. Before making certain changes to an FRA-certified PTC system or the associated FRA-approved PTCSP, a host railroad must submit, and obtain FRA’s approval of, an RFA to its PTCSP under Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Section 236.1021.
