Under part 211 of title 49 Code of
Federal Regulations (CFR), this
document provides the public notice
that on April 1, 2021, Union Pacific
Railroad Company (UPRR) petitioned
the Federal Railroad Administration
(FRA) for a waiver of compliance from
certain provisions of the Federal
railroad safety regulations contained at
49 CFR part 232, Brake System Safety
Standards for Freight and Other NonPassenger Trains and Equipment; Endof-Train Devices. FRA assigned the
petition Docket Number FRA–2021–
0042.
Specifically, UPRR requests relief
from 49 CFR 232.203, Training
requirements, to allow its Class I Brake
Test Simulation proficiency
demonstration as a method to satisfy the
required ‘‘hands-on’’ training
component of periodic refresher
training. UPRR states that its blended
brake system training curriculum
exceeds the training objectives of the
regulation and is designed to increase
user proficiency.
