I. Background
The Department of Labor, as part of
the continuing effort to reduce
paperwork and respondent (i.e.,
employer) burden, conducts a
preclearance consultation program to
provide the public with an opportunity
to comment on proposed and
continuing information collection
requirements in accordance with the
Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA)
(44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A)). This program
ensures that information is in the
desired format, reporting burden (time
and costs) is minimal, collection
instruments are clearly understood, and
OSHA’s estimate of the information
collection burden is accurate. The

research project remains open, and NSTIC intends to file additional

On October 8, 2019, NSTIC filed its original notification pursuant
to Section 6(a) of the Act. The Department of Justice published a
notice in the Federal

Register pursuant to Section 6(b) of the Act on November 12, 2019 (84
FR 61071).
The last notification was filed with the Department on July 7,
2020. A notice was published in the Federal Register pursuant to
Section 6(b) of the Act on July 31, 2020 (85 FR 46179).
