On March 20, 2020, the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
published in the Federal Register (FR)
a notice issuing the draft Environmental
Impact Statement (EIS) for Holtec
International’s (Holtec’s) application to
construct and operate a consolidated
interim storage facility (CISF) for spent
nuclear fuel and Greater-Than Class C
waste, along with a small quantity of
mixed oxide fuel in Lea County, New
Mexico. The NRC is announcing a
public comment webinar to receive
comments on the draft report. The
public meeting will allow interested
members of the public to submit their
comments.
SUMMARY:
The NRC staff will hold a
webinar on June 23, 2020. The staff will
present the findings of the draft report
and will receive public comments
during transcribed public meeting.
Members of the public are invited to
submit comments by July 22, 2020.
Comments received after this date will
be considered if it is practical to do so,
but the NRC is able to ensure
consideration only for comments
received before this date.

published a notice extending the
comment period to July 22, 2020. The
NRC is announcing that staff will hold
a public webinar. The webinar will be
held online and will offer a telephone
line for members of the public to submit
comments. A court reporter will be
recording all comments received during
the webinar. The dates and times for the
