In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held those same hours on April 12, 2020. The fireworks will be launched from a barge located in the Anacostia River across from Yards Park in Washington, DC. Hazards from the firework display include accidental discharge of fireworks, dangerous projectiles, and falling hot embers or other debris. The COTP MarylandNational Capital Region has determined that potential hazards associated with the fireworks to be used in this display would be a safety concern for anyone in the Anacostia River near the fireworks barge. The purpose of this rulemaking is to ensure the safety of vessels and the navigable waters within 400 feet of the fireworks barge before, during, and after the scheduled event.
