Discontinuance or Modification of a
Railroad Signal System
Under part 235 of title 49 of the Code
of Federal Regulations (CFR) and 49
U.S.C. 20502(a), this provides the public
notice that by a document dated October
10, 2019, the National Railroad
Passenger Corporation (Amtrak)
petitioned the Federal Railroad
Administration (FRA) seeking approval
to discontinue or modify a signal
system. FRA assigned the petition
Docket Number FRA–2019–0088.
Applicant: Amtrak, Mr. Nicholas J.
Croce III, PE, Deputy Chief Engineer,
C&S, 2995 Market Street, Philadelphia,
PA 19104.
Specifically, Amtrak requests
permission to retire signals 1267–4 and
1268–4, as well as associated track
circuits and cab signals on Track 4
between Groton Interlocking, milepost

information that includes the status of
the investments and funded operations,
the plans for continued operation and
funding of routes, and any legislative
recommendations.
Grant recipients must also collect
information and report on the project’s
performance using measures established
by the FRA to assess progress in

Examples of some rail measures are
listed in the below table.

for the removal of signal equipment is
to eliminate maintenance of equipment
which provides no significant benefit to
the safety of operations.
