Abstract: The claimant uses this form
to submit an initial (or ‘‘original’’) claim
for VA education benefits. The
information requested on this form
helps VA determine the applicant’s
eligibility to education benefits. To
streamline the application process for
the claimant, we have divided one large
application into three, removing the two
least used programs (National Call to
Service (NCS) Transfer of Entitlement
(TOE) and developed separate
applications for those programs, the VA
Form 22–1990E and VA Form 22–
1990N.

respond to a collection of information

Abstract: VA Form 22–8979 is used
by students to submit their verification
of enrollment on a monthly basis to
allow for a frequent and periodic release
of payment. Without this information,
VA could not pay benefits based on
proof of attendance and/or change in
enrollment.
An agency may not conduct or
sponsor, and a person is not required to
respond to a collection of information
unless it displays a currently valid OMB
