information collection and seeks public
comment on the provisions thereof.
Comments are invited on: Whether the
proposed collection of information is
necessary for the proper performance of
the functions of the agency, including
whether the information shall have

agency’s estimate of the burden of the

for OMB Control Number 0710–0019.
Needs and Uses: The primary purpose
of collections to be conducted under
this clearance is to provide data which
will be used in conjunction with other
information to derive numerical values
of certain evacuation behaviors which
in turn will be used in transportation
modeling of evacuation clearance times,
along with shelter planning and public
outreach. In general all collections
under this clearance will be designed
based upon accepted statistical practices
and sampling methodologies, will
gather consistent and valid data that are
representative of the target population,
address non-response bias issues, and
achieve response rates needed to obtain
statistically useful results.
Affected Public: Residents, property
owners, businesses, nongovernmental
organizations, Local Governments.
Annual Burden Hours: 1,500.
Number of Respondents: 6,000.
Responses per Respondent: 1.
Annual Responses: 6,000.
Average Burden per Response: 15
minutes.
Frequency: On occasion.
Respondents are residents living in
coastal areas where public officials may
call for an evacuation when a hurricane
threatens. The sample population
queried in this generic collection is
typically identified using available
hurricane risk data, including data on
areas at risk from hurricane storm surge
flooding, previous hurricane evacuation
studies or hurricane response plans,
established hurricane evacuation zones,
and in coordination with State and
Local governments within the study
area who are responsible for hurricane
emergency management and evacuation
decision making.
