After considering the literature on children’s health outcomes, the scope was narrowed to focus on traffic-related air pollution and hypersensitive disorders of pregnancy due to: (1) The significant impact of hypertension in pregnancy on children’s health, and (2) a number of recent studies assessing hypertensive outcomes in pregnant women exposed to traffic-related air pollution.
