The
NOAA Science Advisory Board (SAB)
was established by a Decision
Memorandum dated September 25,
1997, and is the only Federal Advisory
Committee with responsibility to advise
the Under Secretary of Commerce for
Oceans and Atmosphere on strategies
for research, education, and application
of science to operations and information
services. SAB activities and advice
provide necessary input to ensure that
National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA) science
programs are of the highest quality and
provide optimal support to resource
management.
Matters To Be Considered: The
meeting will include the following
topics: (1) NOAA Research and
Development Plan; and (2) Sustainable
Marine Aquaculture. Meeting materials,
including work products will be made
available on the SAB website: https://
sab.noaa.gov/SABMeetings.aspx
Status: The meeting will be open to
public participation with a 5-minute
public comment period on June 18 from
3:50–3:55 p.m. EDT (check website to
confirm time). The SAB expects that
public statements presented at its
meeting will not be repetitive of
previously submitted verbal or written
statements. In general, each individual
or group making a verbal presentation
will be limited to a total time of three
(1) minute. Written comments for the
meeting should be received in the SAB
Executive Director’s Office by June 25,
2019 to provide sufficient time for SAB
review. Written comments received after
June 25 will be distributed to the SAB,
but may not be reviewed prior to the
meeting date. Seating at the meeting
will be available on a first-come, first
served basis.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The
primary purpose of this webinar is for
the Committees to discuss materials and
develop recommendations that will be
presented at the June 2019 Pacific
Council meeting in San Diego, CA.
Specifically, NMFS staff will provide an
overview of electronic monitoring
policy and procedural directives that
guide development of electronic
technologies and reporting programs for
Federally managed fisheries of the
United States.
Although non-emergency issues not
contained in the meeting agenda may be
discussed, those issues may not be the
subject of formal action during this
meeting. Action will be restricted to
those issues specifically listed in this
document and any issues arising after
publication of this document that
require emergency action under section
305(c) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery
Conservation and Management Act,
provided the public has been notified of
the intent to take final action to address
the emergency.
