U.S. Agency for International
Development (USAID) is making efforts
to reduce the paperwork burden. USAID
invites the general public and other
Federal agencies to take this
opportunity to comment on the
following proposed and/or continuing
information collections, as required by
the Paperwork Reduction Act for 1995.
Comments are requested concerning: (a)
The accuracy of the burden estimates;
(b) ways to enhance the quality, utility,
and clarity of the information collected;
and (c) ways to minimize the burden of
the collection of information on the
respondents, including the use of
automated collection techniques, or
other forms of information technology.

In accordance with the
Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, this
notice announces the intention of the
National Agricultural Statistics Service
(NASS) to request approval to revise
and extend a currently approved
information collection, the Milk and
Milk Products Surveys. Revision to
burden hours may be needed due to
changes in the size of the target
population, sample design, and/or
questionnaire length.

Surveys.

Type of Request: To revise and extend
a currently approved information
collection for a period of three years.
Abstract: The primary objective of the
National Agricultural Statistics Service
(NASS) is to collect, prepare and issue
State and national estimates of crop and
livestock production, prices and
disposition as well as economic
statistics, farm numbers, land values,
on-farm pesticide usage, pest crop
management practices, as well as the
Census of Agriculture. The Milk and
Milk Products Surveys obtain basic
agricultural statistics on milk
production and manufactured dairy
products from farmers and processing
plants throughout the nation. Data are
gathered for milk production, dairy
products, evaporated and condensed
milk, manufactured dry milk, and
manufactured whey products. Milk
production and manufactured dairy
products statistics are used by the U.S.
Department of Agriculture (USDA) to
help administer federal programs and by
the dairy industry in planning, pricing,
and projecting supplies of milk and
milk products. Only minor changes are
