Signal System
Under part 235 of Title 49 of the Code
of Federal Regulations (CFR) and 49
U.S.C. 20502(a), this provides the public
notice that on August 2#, 2017, Norfolk
Southern Corporation (NS) petitioned
the Federal Railroad Administration
(FRA) seeking approval to discontinue
or modify a signal system. FRA assigned
the petition Docket Number FRA–2017–
0097.

Peachtree Street NE., Atlanta, GA 30309.
NS seeks to discontinue control point
(CP) East End Avenue on the CNO&TP
District at milepost (MP) 337.2, Central
Division, Chattanooga, TN.
CP East End Avenue will be removed
from service. All associated signal
equipment, existing power switches,
movable point frogs and slip switches
will be retired or converted to hand
operation. Zero track is currently
governed by Rule 261. Cavalier and AGS
#2 track will become yard leads and be
governed under Yard Limit Rule 93.
AGS #1 will be renamed Main #2 and
CNO&TPO Main will be renamed Main
#1; both will remain governed by Rule
261.
NS states the reason for proposed
change is as part of the rationalization,
reconfiguration, and implementation of
positive train control through the
Chattanooga, TN, area between CP Pratt
and CP 23rd Street.
