The Committee will receive program
updates and continue to provide insight
into optimal ways for VA to incorporate
genomic information into its health care
program while applying appropriate
ethical oversight and protecting the
privacy of Veterans. The meeting focus
will be on the status of ongoing
interagency collaborations, updates on
scientific research using the Million
Veteran Program cohort, and clinical
implications of genetics in better
identification and treatment of diseases
impacting Veterans. The Committee will
also receive an update from the Clinical
Genomics Service. Public comments
will be received at 3:15 p.m. and are
limited to 5 minutes each. Individuals
who speak are invited to submit a 1–2
page summary of their comments for
inclusion in the official meeting record

marriage between Veterans and spouses/
surviving spouses. VBA uses the

whether or not the claimed commonlaw marriage is valid under the law of
the place where the parties resided at
the time of marriage, or the law of the
place where the parties resided when
the right to benefits accrued, to comply
with 38 CFR 3.1(j) and pay monetary
benefits.
