Air Plan Approval; Georgia: Heavy
Duty Diesel Requirements
Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA).
ACTION: Proposed rule.
AGENCY:
The Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) is proposing to approve a
State Implementation Plan (SIP)
revision submitted by the State of
Georgia on January 25, 2016, for the
purpose of removing the requirements
for heavy duty diesel engines (HDDE),
which bar the sale/lease or import in the
State of Georgia of any new HDDE that
were not certified by the California Air
Resources Board to meet the emission
standards of the California HDDE rules.
The removal of this rule will prevent
regulatory confusion and make it clear
that the more stringent EPA emission
standards for HDDE are applicable. EPA
is proposing to approve this SIP revision
because the State has demonstrated that
it is consistent with the Clean Air Act.
DATES: Written comments must be
received on or before June 12, 2017.
