The data on the form is used by CBP to identify the carrier who initiated the bonded movement and to document merchandise moving in-bond. These forms provide documentation that CBP uses for enforcement, targeting, and protection of revenue. Forms 7512 and 7512A collect information such as the names of the importer and consignee; a description of the merchandise moving in-bond; and the ports of lading and unlading.
