OMB Control Number: 1505–0123.
Type of Review: Revision of a
currently approved collection.
Abstract: The survey collects
information on foreign resident’s
holdings of U.S. securities, including
selected money market instruments. The
data is used in the computation of the
U.S. balance of payments accounts and
U.S. international investment position,
in the formulation of U.S. financial and
monetary policies, to satisfy 22 U.S.C.
3101, and for information on foreign
portfolio investment patterns.
Respondents are primarily the largest
banks, securities dealers, and issuers of
U.S. securities.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The
Multiemployer Pension Reform Act of
2014 (MPRA) amended the Internal
Revenue Code to permit a
multiemployer plan that is projected to
have insufficient funds to reduce
pension benefits payable to participants
and beneficiaries if certain conditions
are satisfied. In order to reduce benefits,
the plan sponsor is required to submit
an application to the Secretary of the
Treasury, which Treasury, in
consultation with the Pension Benefit
Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) and the
Department of Labor, is required to
approve or deny.
