Abstract: This regulation provides
rules for allocating and apportioning
income from sales of natural resources
or other inventory produced in the
United States and sold outside the
United States or produced outside the
United States and sold in the United
States. The information provided is
used by the IRS to determine on audit
whether the taxpayer has properly
determined the source of its income
from export sales.

3101, and for information on foreign
portfolio investment patterns.
Respondents are primarily the largest
banks, securities dealers, and issuers of
U.S. securities.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The
Multiemployer Pension Reform Act of
2014 (MPRA) amended the Internal
Revenue Code to permit a
multiemployer plan that is projected to
have insufficient funds to reduce
pension benefits payable to participants
and beneficiaries if certain conditions
are satisfied. In order to reduce benefits,
the plan sponsor is required to submit
an application to the Secretary of the
Treasury, which Treasury, in
consultation with the Pension Benefit
Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) and the
Department of Labor, is required to
approve or deny.
